Modules

Pre- & Post-Award Management

With Converis, universities and other research organizations can manage the complete process for pre- and post-award. Converis keeps track of audit and reporting deadlines, includes automatic reminders and offers dedicated grant reports comprising success rates, budget monitoring and network graphs.

Publications Management

Converis allows organizations to systematically collect, validate, present and report on research results: tracking bibliographic meta-data as well as full-text while offering full Open Access repository functionality. To minimize researcher and administrator workload and assure high data quality, Converis retrieves publication data from online sources and supports import from many file formats.

Graduate Students Management

Converis supports the complete Graduate Student lifecycle, from initial admission of new graduate students, via structured study plans to graduation. Features offered include electronic approval processes, progress monitoring, automated alerts and graduate student management information reports.

Research Analytics

Converis Research Analytics offers users an interactive web interface specifically designed for reporting, combining data through drag-and-drop into individually designed reports, producing dynamic pivot table-like aggregations of metrics, visualizing data with charts and constructing dynamic dashboards that enable analyses to be conducted throughout the complete Research lifecycle, without reliance on IT specialists.

Research Portal

The Converis Research Portal is an out-of-the-box solution that makes selected Converis research information available publicly over the web. The Research Portal includes search functionality, filterable overviews, and attractive list pages that link to detailed information pages. The Research Portal provides an accessible public overview of the organization’s research resources, activities and results; enabling identification of academic expertise and fostering new research connections.

Our project implementation methodology applies agile working methods to ensures a close collaboration with the client and ensures Converis meets the client’s individual needs.

  1. Client provides Thomson Reuters with exports from the current systems that will be migrated or integrated with Converis.
  2. Thomson Reutes and client jointly carry out an initial data mapping to pre-populate Converis and use that as the starting point for implementation.
Once the standard system is fully operational, the institution can review they system, prior to the formal training. This has proven to significantly:
  • Identify any data inconsistencies in the internal systems and ensure a correct mapping for the final integrations
  • Identify what modifications are needed to configure the templates, user rights, workflows and reports to fully match the institution’s specific needs
  • Ensure internal engagement with the different users across the organization

Clients can choose to benefit from the flexibility offered with the Configuration and Research Analytics Modules, allowing all aspects of Converis to be managed by the client, without being dependent on Thomson Reuters. To ensure the quality of these services when carried out internally by the client, Thomson Reuters offers trainings and certifications through the Converis Academy. Training sessions are co-located and offered several times throughout the year.

For server administration and hosting, clients can choose from two options: Remote Administration or Full Service.

Following Thomson Reuters recommendations for server hardware and software, the client provides the servers. Thomson Reuters is responsible for the installation and continuous server administration.

While providing access to Converis for the customer, Thomson Reuters is responsible for all aspects of server administration and hosting, including system and data security.

Thomson Reuters uses external monitoring tools and providers like Nagios to monitor various performance and runtime relevant components. Monitoring items like server load, disk space, memory utilization, and response times allow the opportunity to identify any actions that show significant negative impact and to act befreo they lead to system outages. These statistics are also used as input for the future development of Converis.
